SOMALIA: A NEW PEDIATRIC WING FOR THE “DE MARTINO” HOSPITAL IN MOGADISHU
The Italian Ambassador and the Somali Minister of Health were present at the ribbon cutting of the last CIMIC project in Mogadishu
Mogadishu, January 30, 2023.
In recent weeks the MNCGTactical CIMIC Team detached in Somalia has opened the new pediatric department of the “De Martino” hospital in Mogadishu.The activity, part of a support program for the health sector put in place by CIMIC, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), was aimed at consistently ensuring an excellent environment for the patients of the hospital, a center of medical excellence in the Somali capital.
The final ceremony of the QIP, was attended by the Somali Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Ali Haji, the Ambassador of Italy, HE Alberto Vecchi, and the head of the CIMIC cell of the National Contingent in Mogadishu, Lt.Col. Giovanni Di Marco, who, after the ribbon was cut, visited the premises of the pediatric wing, meeting some doctors and young patients.
MNCG operators continue to ensure a substantial contribution to Somali people rights in the pursuit of tailor-made projects aimed at increasing culture and improvingintervention strategies supporting the Somali Institution building process.
